Choosing a cannabis strain to grow can be paralyzing. What cannabis yields to expect? What bud quality? What THC percentage or potency? These days, there are more marijuana strains to buy than any home grower could grow in their lifetime. So it can really help to see a review about a potential strain from someone who’s actually grown it to help you decide. Today, I’m sharing my review for Platinum Cookies (version by Seed Supreme).

Today, I'm sharing my review for the Platinum Cookies strain (version by Seed Supreme). I found this strain to be potent with beautiful purple buds.

I grow lots of plants with excellent genetics from many sources. If you choose a good cannabis seed source, you’re pretty well guaranteed your plants will come out decent to good. But every once in a while I run across a strain that isn’t just good but great.

Platinum Cookies by Seed Supreme is one of those captivating strains that is just plain better than a lot of other strains, even in today’s competitive strain market.

Platinum Cookies is a well-known and highly developed strain that used to only be available as a clone for those who had access to living cannabis plants from growers. Which means almost no one had access to growing this high-potency, high-yield strain except for people in the weed industry. However, the famous genetics have been captured and bred into stabilized seed form, and (since seeds can be shipped to almost any country) that means almost anyone in the world can now grow this legendary strain at home.

Pros of Platinum Cookies strain (Seed Supreme version)

  • Excellent yields (got 4-5 oz dried buds per plant)
  • Amazing bud quality (buds look incredible)
  • Tends to turn purple with cool nights and high light levels
  • Plants are easy to grow and hardy against problems
  • Plants cloned easily compared to many other strains
  • BUD POTENCY! Buds tested at 25-27% THC and the effects were not just strong but also smooth and relaxing (unlike other high-THC strains which are often overwhelming). These buds have been the crowd favorite ever since harvest. My favorite buds I’ve grown this year.

Cons of Platinum Cookies strain

  • Takes a bit longer to finish (although it’s listed as an 8-10 week strain, I found the buds weren’t fully mature until about week 12 from initiating 12/12)
  • Plants tend to get big (though respond great to plant training and other height control techniques) – not a “short” strain by any means
  • Due to the strong sativa influence, buds were big and tight but not as dense at some strains (though that made the buds easier to break up and smoke)
  • Not a strong odor, though the smell is sweet and pleasant. That could be a positive for someone who’s looking for a “low odor” strain to grow.

Platinum Cookies at week 5 of flowering. Buds got fat quickly! I could already tell it was going to have the best yields of any cannabis plant I’ve grown so far in 2022.
