Root Aphids and Drain Flies in RDWC cannabis hydroponic system

Drain flies and root aphids in a cannabis RDWC setup

A gracious grower and reader of the weekly GrowWeedEasy.com newsletter wrote in because he wanted to share pictures of root aphids, drain flies, and their larvae. These pictures are so clear and crisp that I had to keep them away from other trophy pics for fear of infestation. 😂

I want to give a special thank you to the grower who sent these in: Rob MK. When you’re growing a cannabis plant and something goes wrong, taking pictures is usually the last thing on a grower’s mind. We’d all much rather fix the problem and pretend like it didn’t happen. Rob took the time to document his pain so we can all learn a lesson. Thanks, Rob! 🏆

I’d love to submit some images of root aphids in a rdwc system. Is that possible (they are quite clear. I have stills and videos) finding info about them is quite difficult.

These ones are the root aphids.

I dosed the system with a lot of pyrethrum and that killed the majority of them. however seems a few got missed. pretty much

This is what i think is drain fly larvae.

Root aphids and drainfly on cannabis roots

I’m not sure what this is

Kind regards,
Rob
