One of the cool parts of growing weed at home is that you get to have as much weed as you want. But most growers will find they’re unable to use all the weed they grow because you just end up with so much. Not only that, some strains or plants come out better than others and you’ll find there are certain strains that get used less than others.
Is aging weed still good? Is there a way to turn less-than-stellar weed into something with legendary effects? Yes!
Problem: Too much weed (learn how to grow too much weed)
Solution: Extractions
The best thing you can do is make concentrates out of extra weed. This takes the “good stuff” out and lets you throw away the inert matter that isn’t going to do you any good anyway. Kind of like canning the THC for later.
Here are some great examples:
Cannabis edibles
- Best Weed Butter
- Canna caps
- Gummies (Weed Gummy Bears)
- Tinctures
- Hash Oil (aka Cannabis Extract Oil or RSO)
Use weed butter in any recipe that calls for butter
Store canna caps in a regular pill bottle for edible cannabis on the go.
Make weed gummies for a fun discreet way to eat marijuana. They’re surprisingly easy to make!
Cannabis tinctures are the OG edible. Can last in the freezer for years.
Pure cannabis hash oil can be eaten or smoked and can last essentially forever in the fridge.
We want all the potency in our pot brownies without the cannabis taste.

- Solventless Extraction Showdown – Bubble Hash vs. Dry-Ice Hash!
- Dry Ice Hash (Made with Dry Ice)
- Bubble Hash (Made with Ice Water)
- Homemade Rosin (dabs)
Extracts (Using a Solvent)
- Pure Cannabis Hash Oil (alcohol is used as a solvent)

A closeup of the Bubble Hash we made. As long as it’s completely dry it can last a long time in a cool dry place.
If you have an unbelievable amount of weed to get rid of and don’t care about yields, try making homemade rosin (dabs).
